“The times, they are a changin’…” – Bob Dylan.
It’s 2017, and the world as we know it and have known it for the past several years will be different…very different. Businesses of all shapes and sizes will by adjusting to changes in government, the economy, healthcare, you name it.
In this uncertain climate, strong and forward thinking leadership will be more vital than ever to the success of business.
In this uncertain climate, strong and forward thinking leadership will be more vital than ever to the success of business. Companies and leaders have told us many times about the need to be resilient, innovative and work functionally as strong teams in order to navigate the landscape ahead. Organizations around the world are embracing the need to be better at adjusting in the moment, going off plan, being more reactive to change, and creating more open, candid and supportive workplaces.
At The Second City, we know that all of those challenges can be strongly met with the skills of an improviser. For the past several months, we have been creating a new and exciting ongoing training program that is unlike any other. It focuses on the core skills of improvisation and puts them into direct application in the workplace. It will give high potential leaders the chance to grow their ability to lead, inspire, connect, adapt and influence their respective businesses in the years ahead. It’s fun, interactive, insightful, thought provoking and intense.
I have been a performer in the world of improvisation for over 30 years. I’ve been a teacher of improvisation for over 25 years. And…I’ve been a corporate training facilitator for Second City Works for over 10 years. And I can say without reservation that I have never been part of a program that is more exciting than RewireU.
This program, developed by a team of experts from the renowned Second City Training Center and Second City Works – the world’s leader in improv based skills training for business- combines the immersive experience of an improv class with the pointed application of a business workshop. On top of all that, the program will be supported by research and insight from thought leaders at the University of Chicago. If you’re looking for Bona Fides…there they are.
- But …this is not for everyone. You should only consider training with RewireU if you are:
- A leader
- A potential leader
- A team member
- A boss
- An employee
- A parent
- A spouse
- A human being
Okay…that’s a bit philosophical I know. But seriously, the benefits of this type of training are far reaching. If I had to pin a target on those who would gain the most from Rewire…especially in the early stages…I’d say it’s those people within any organization who are considered “high potentials”. So many times we work with companies to help develop folks like this, those individuals who get moved up the ladder because of tremendous skills in a certain area, but then are uncomfortable when they must expand their skill set to lead others. The things learned in RewireU will equip these high potential leaders with the tools to really succeed at that next level.
RewireU focuses on creating a greater awareness among participants around their individual strengths and weaknesses as communicators, collaborators and leaders. They will come out of the program as more in tune and authentic and adaptable performers and have a greater sense of how to operate within, and lead teams and organizations. Companies will benefit from having a more engaged workforce that can roll with change, inspire each other and bring fresh and creative solutions to the table.
So…are you ready to be more open, authentic, honest, inclusive, innovative and resilient? Then get on this.
RewireU. Because you can’t face the challenges of the future with the methods of the past.
